PHOENIX, Ariz. –– PT Management Support Systems (PTM), which provides physical and hand therapy consulting and management services to physician groups on a nationwide basis, is sponsoring a comprehensive tutorial regarding outpatient physical and occupational therapy documentation on Wednesday, September 28 from 12:00-1:00 PM EST.
“With Medicare and commercial payers increasing their scrutiny of physical therapy charges, it is more important than ever to ensure that therapy documentation clearly demonstrates medical necessity and compliance with other therapy billing requirements,” says Cary Edgar, PTM’s President.
Led by Kay Hashagen, PT, MBA, RAC-CT, “Keys to Effective Documentation for Outpatient Therapists” will help outpatient physical and occupational therapists improve their documentation and reduce potential denials due to inability to demonstrate medical necessity and will specifically address:
- Medicare and other payor requirements for documenting medical necessity
- Demonstrating and documenting skilled service
- Treatment plan requirements
- Physician supervision requirements
- Writing short-term and long-term goals
- ICD-10 documentation
- Utilizing standardized tests to support medical necessity
- Progress note requirements and practical tips
- Treatment note requirements and practical tips
- Documenting for treatment above the Medicare cap
- G code reporting and documentation
- Red flags to avoid
